North Iowa Fur Company sells these different types of traps:
Coil Spring Traps are foot-hold restraining devices used to catch and hold wild animals. This style of trap has been in use since the early part of the 20th century and is widely accepted as a cost effective and efficient tool for managing wildlife populations. Coil Spring Traps are manufactured of steel components and powered by a set of compact coil springs. Models range from the small #1 CS with a 4" jaw spread for Mink to the larger #4 CS 4X with a 6.5" jaw spread for Coyote.
Body Gripping Traps are rotating jaw traps used to quickly catch and dispatch wild animals. This style of trap was developed during the 1950's and has steadily increased in use due to the versatility and effectiveness of the trap design. Sizes #330 and #280 are widely accepted by state and federal wildlife agencies as the most effective humane traps for beaver population control.
Long Spring Traps are among the most traditional foot-hold restraining devices used to catch and hold wild animals. This style of trap was first produced by primitive hand forge methods and was later mass produced beginning in the mid 1800's. Like other foot-hold traps, Long Spring Traps are manufactured of steel components but are powered by tempered steel springs that extend out from the trap. Long Spring traps by design are very secure in holding power and are preferred by trappers for this very reason.
